    Always good to see how other teachers work, thank you. I have used old Xrays, but I rather like the placemat idea. Nice and bright and kids are drawn to working with colourful tools.

    I used roofing felt. It’s the stuff that goes under your tiles. You can buy rolls of it at the building supply store or even hardware store. It is sturdy and has the benefit that if you dampen your clay before you press the felt into the clay, it helps support pieces as you are building them.
